The city is seeing record job growth, outpacing the country and the rest of the state.

The numbers come from a new report by the state comptroller's office.

Employment increased by nearly 19 percent between 2009 and 2017 after 702,000 jobs were added. That pushed the number of people employed to 4.4 million last year, breaking the pre-recession record by more than 600,000 jobs.

By comparison, the country and rest of the state had an 11.5 percent empolyment increase during this period.

The report found the business service sector provided the most jobs during the expansion, followed by the health care sector.
