Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh's "John Hancock" will forever be inked inside an historic book.

On Wednesday, he signed the "Mayor's Autograph Book" at the Onondaga Historical Museum.

The book has been signed by every Syracuse Mayor, beginning with Harvey Baldwin back in 1848.

Walsh said he hopes to live up to those who came before him, including his own grandfather.

"My grandfather and my family are always on my mind,” said Walsh. “I walk into city hall every day and I see him up on the wall there. So, just one more reminder of the history of my family and the community."

Walsh's Grandfather, William Francis Walsh, served as Syracuse Mayor from 1962-1969. Walsh's father represented New York’s 25th congressional district from 1993-2008.
