Unseasonably warm weather will continue for the next several days. Normal high temperatures for this time of the year are still in the mid and upper 50s for central North Carolina.

Not only will it be warm, it looks like we'll have a good chance to set a new record high temperatures over the next few days, although a cold front approaching from the north may bring temperatures down a little for Friday, but then near record highs will be possible again for the weekend.

We are stuck in a weather pattern more common with the summer months as high pressure is situated between the Carolinas and Bermuda in what we commonly call a "Bermuda high."

The high is not going to break down anytime soon, so warm weather will continue across the southeastern United States while cold temperatures will remain in the western and central parts of the country.

The dividing line between our warm air in the eastern United States and the colder air to the Midwest is where heavy rain is expected through the remainder of this week. Four to eight inches could fall from East Texas into the Ohio River Valley.

Our next best chance for rain will come late Sunday into Monday. Somewhat cooler air will also arrive early next week. Highs in the mid 60s are now forecast for the first half of next week.
