Tuesday morning's dense fog across central North Carolina will be slow to lift through the morning. It may take until around noon for the fog to completely lift.

The fog has reduced visibility to less than a quarter of a mile in some locations. Drivers should slow down especially in neighborhoods where kids may be waiting at a school bus stop. Using your beam headlights will give you the best visibility when driving through the fog.

Once the fog lifts around midday, limited sunshine may break through the clouds. Overall, it should be a mostly cloudy to partly sunny afternoon with highs warming to the low 70s in the Triangle and the mid to upper 70s in the Sandhills.

The record high for Tuesday in the Raleigh and Durham area is 75 set in 1939. We should be close to that record may may not quite tie it..

We'll have a better chance to break the record high on Wednesday and Thursday.
