BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- A new program introduced by the Broome County Sheriff's Office is proving to be a major success.

Last year, two deputies got together to create what's now known as the Featured Warrant Initiative.

Once a week, an outstanding warrant is released on the Broome County Sheriff's website or on Facebook.

The community can then submit antonymous tips to help deputies track these individuals down.

So far, 35 out of the 40 featured warrants have been captured.

Deputy Kevin Griffiths said the community's support has been a huge help.

"There's several individuals out there that we probably wouldn't be able to find without the community's assistance and it just makes you feel good to see the community's got your back and they're keeping an eye out for who we're looking for," said Kevin Griffiths, Broome County Sheriff's Office Deputy.

The first featured warrant was sent out on January 18th.

Thanks to a number of tips, that individual was just tracked down last week in Columbus, Ohio.
