Parents and teachers say the city's decision to close more than a dozen under-performing schools in the Bronx is completely unreasonable.

17 schools are on the list, including the Urban Science Academy in Concourse Village.

A rally was held outside of a public hearing by the Department of Education yesterday.

The latest research by the D.O.E shows the school has low graduation rates and poor standardized test scores.

The D.O.E released a statement saying, “This proposal was issued with the best interests of students in mind. Over the past three years, ELA and math proficiency at MS 325 have remained below district and citywide averages, and enrollment has significantly declined, and students will be better served at a higher-performing school.”
