REMSEN, N.Y. -- A bar is the last place you'd expect to be rowdy and packed on a Monday morning. But the Remsen community came out in full force to watch their hometown hero, Erin Hamlin compete bright and early.

Hamlin is the only US woman to medal in luge, receiving the bronze in 2014. Not only is she competing again this year, she also had the honor of carrying the American Flag at opening ceremonies.

During her impressive career she's made her country and her hometown proud.

Her supporters are hoping she takes home the gold, her fourth and final time at the Olympics. And after watching her stellar performance Monday, they're feeling optimistic.

Hamlin will take her last two runs Tuesday morning. It will be a bittersweet ending to a career that has filled her community with pride.
