A big time basketball tournament is taking place in Sea View on Staten Island.

The 26th annual Staten Island High School League tournament tipped off Friday at the College of Staten Island.

Twelve Boys' varsity and junior varsity teams from both public and private schools are competing for bragging rights to become the borough's top team.

Last year's winner was St. Peter's Boys High School in Clinton Hill.

Joseph Coscia, the President of the Staten Island High School League says "this the type of tournament where, you know what, you can be one and done, or you can have a nice run in the tournament."

New Dorp triumphed in yesterday's game beating out Petrides in the opening round of the tournament. The tournament will continue through the weekend. Both team finals will be held on Thursday, February 15th.

If you can't be there in person, the games are also being livestreamed @SIHSL.com where there is also a schedule of games to be played.
