Officials in Broome County said it's no secret they had struggled to balance the books.

That's why County Executive Jason Garnar requested an audit by the State's Comptroller when Garnar first came into office in 2017.

The audit was completed and has been released. Garnar said during the past five years, Broome County's balance fund has been dangerously low due to unrealistic revenue projections.

The County Executive and the Legislature hope to develop a long-term plan to prevent future issues, while still having money set aside for emergencies.
