An 18-year old who was shot Wednesday in the city of Syracuse has died from his injuries.

Syracuse Police confirm that 18-year-old Niko Santana was taken to the hospital around 6 p.m. with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

He died a short time later.

The shooting reportedly happened on the 400 block of Shonnard Street on the city's near west side.

At this point, police are not calling it a homicide. Instead, they've labeled the case a suspicious death.  They have not released any details as to what happened, but they're asking the public for tips.
