A man and a woman are under arrest after their five-year-old son, who appeared to be malnourished, was found alone in a Bronx home that was filled with rodents and bugs, city police said.

"People like that don't deserve to be parents," neighbor Fernando Rodriguez said. "It's just not right for a kid to suffer because of the parents' fault — deserve a lot better."

Police said a FedEx worker making a delivery and found the boy around 11:20 a.m. Friday in his home on Kingsbridge Ave. near West 231st St. in Kingsbridge.

There was no food in the home, the NYPD said, and the boy told police he had not seen his mom since Thursday night.

Police arrested the mother, 49-year-old Charlotte Lewis at Montefiore Hospital, where she works as a nurse. She, and the boy's father, 59-year-old Wilfred Lewis, have been charged with failure to exercise control of a minor.

The Administration for Children's Services said it is working with the NYPD to investigate the incident.
