Assemblyman Felix Ortiz from Brooklyn wants to crack down on drunk drivers.

Ortiz is re-introducing legislation that would lower New York State's legal blood-alcohol level from .08 to .05.

He points to a recent study which says such a change could save thousands of lives.

Research shows women usually reach that level of intoxication after two drinks, and it takes two or three, for men.

All states currently have .08 as their standard, but Utah will lower its blood-alcohol level to .05 at the end of this year.

There is no word on when Ortiz's bill could get to a vote.
