CHARLOTTE -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating an overnight murder in north Charlotte.

It happened at about midnight on Carmine Street near the I-77 and I-85 interchange.

Police say the victim, 16-year-old Jarquavise Demonta White, stepped outside his home and a short time later his family heard gun shots.

He was found by officers lying in his front yard with gunshot wound and died at the hospital.
