The Ronald Meadow trial was called off Tuesday; the defendant accepted a plea deal in the 1985 killing of his estranged wife.

Meadow was charged with second-degree murder in the case. He was convicted in 2014 but had the verdict thrown out on a technicality.

Prosecutors claimed he killed his estranged wife, Colleen, inside her apartment back in 1985; a year after the two had separated.

His second trial was into its second week when the prosecution and defense apparently came to terms on a plea deal.

Meadow wound up pleading guilty to first-degree manslaughter, in exchange for a 5 to 15 year sentence.
