BEDFORD, Texas -- Police in North Texas have shot and killed a man who they say reached for a weapon as officers sought to question him about a suspicious vehicle.

Police in Bedford, northeast of Fort Worth, say in a statement that officers were investigating a report of the suspicious vehicle early Tuesday when the suspect fled.

The vehicle was found about two hours later and officers attempted to speak with the driver. Authorities say the suspect reached for a weapon and one officer then fired and struck him. Officers attempted CPR on the man at the scene but he was pronounced dead.

The names of the suspect and of the officers involved in the confrontation have not been released. Lt. Kirk Roberts said the suspect was a man but declined to release any other details.
