A mix of rain and snow is forecast overnight in New York City before making for a rough Wednesday morning commute.

Accumulations are expected to be 0 to 2 inches. Temperatures are projected to be in the low 30s overnight.

The city was originally expecting 2 to 4 inches of snow, but a Winter Weather Advisory was cancelled Tuesday afternoon as that threat abated.

But a wet and slippery Wednesday morning rush is likely, with temperatures in the mid-30s before falling into the low-20s Wednesday night.

The Sanitation Department has issued a citywide Snow Alert. That means Sanitation is coordinating with the Office of Emergency Management and the Transportation Department to get ready to clear snow from the streets.

Dryer weather is expected for the rest of the week and into the weekend. By this weekend, in fact, the temperatures could hit 50 degrees.
