ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Hundreds of people turned out to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Monday morning in Rochester.

An annual interfaith service dedicated to the civil rights leader was held at Eastman Theatre.

The program featured music, dialogue and celebration of Dr. King and his efforts for racial equality.

A mother and daughter who attended say it's become a tradition to come to the event every year.

"We need to understand where we've come from, what we've been though as a people and were we can go when we're educated and we know exactly what it is we need to do to become successful in the USA, especially in this climate  right now," said attendee Vanessa Miller-Floyd.

"He's really hes powerful, he's a really powerful speaker, his words bring so much strength into other people; he's just a really great person," said attendee Courtney Floyd.
