WILMINGTON -- The wintry weather and frigid temperatures on the coast are impacting the small businesses.

Shop owners in Downtown Wilmington say there is usually a slowdown, after the holidays but the snow and resulting icy roads have kept people away.

They say the frigid temperatures are freezing sales.

"Downtown has been so dead and honestly not the safest driving conditions. So, we've really been kind of trying to push more for all of our online sales right now," says Tusc sales associate Kaitlyn Devries

Store associates say they’re pushing deals, like $20 off a purchase of $40 dollars or more.

They say they have noticed more of an increase in people shopping online to avoid weather conditions.
