ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Local leaders are still talking about New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo's State of the State address. Among the items on his list: problems with the justice system.

Cuomo said justice is still not colorblind and that the court system is slow. He called for a reform of the bail system. Cuomo said it's biased against the poor, and that a person should only be held if a judge finds either a significant flight risk or a real threat to public safety.

Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara agrees that more should be done, but said it's a complex issue.

"There's room for improvement. It's like I said, the devil is in the details, and how can both sides come together that solves the problem, and at the same time, maintains our ability to, and the police's ability to keep our society and keep our citizens safe," McNamara said.

The district attorney also noted that a judge currently cannot consider if a person is a threat to society when determining bail.
