A developing area of low pressure off the east coast of Florida will move in a northerly direction as it intensifies spreading moisture across the region.

At the coast, rain and freezing rain developing by midday changing to rain then to snow by sunset. Just inland from the coast you can expect snow and sleet developing, changing to snow before sunset. Along the I-95 corridor, we will see snow developing from south to north over the course of the afternoon.

As of now, it looks as if the area between the US 1 and I-95 corridor will see a trace to one inch late Wednesday into Wednesday night with two to three inches as you approach the I-95 corridor.

Parts of the Coastal Plain could see from two to four inches of snow by late Wednesday night.

The system should pull away quickly enough to end the precipitation Wednesday night into Thursday morning. The precise track and intensity of the low will greatly impact the type and amount of precipitation that falls across central and eastern North Carolina.

More arctic air in the forecast as we head into the weekend.
