CHARLOTTE – A Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer is on paid administrative leave following an officer-involved shooting Wednesday around 10:15 p.m.         

Police say Officer David Harvey fired when a wanted fugitive, 30-year-old Nicholas Poulos, rammed a stolen vehicle into several police cruisers and a civilian vehicle when officers tried to pull him over near Wendover and Monroe roads.           

Poulos was struck on the hand and taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Once he is released, Poulos will be served with warrants for assault on a law enforcement officer, assault with a deadly weapon, four counts of damage to property, possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of marijuana. 

Harvey is a six-year veteran of the force.
