NATIONWIDE – More than 107 million Americans have set a traveling record during the year-end holiday season.

This year's record-breaking travel broke last year's numbers by 3 million, according to AAA. The study shows 2017 to be the ninth consecutive year for increasing travel.

The Lone Star State is on the move too. A record-breaking 8.7 million Texans are traveling this holiday season.

The year-end holiday travel period lasts about 10 days, beginning Dec. 23 and runs through New Year’s Day.

Experts point to a healthy economy, low unemployment, rising wages and overall household net worth as indicators to why more people are traveling.

The market research includes travel by planes, trains and automobiles.
