A Queens man faces several charges for starting a Saturday night multi-car crash, during which a car flipped, according to the city police department.

It happened around 9:39 p.m. on a service road of the Van Wyck Expressway near 111th Ave. in South Ozone Park.

Investigators said Joseph Wood, 36, was heading north on the service road in a grey Hyundai when he rear-ended another car, causing it to flip. The driver of that car suffered a shoulder injury.

Police said Wood continued to drive, hitting a second car, which ended up crashing into two more vehicles.

A person in the second car that the suspect hit suffered minor injuries, officials said.

A witness described to NY1 what he saw.

"I came out to take a look at what happened, and then I see him just drive past the intersection with his car all smoking, and then he went past the intersection and then he hit this van here and then the Camaro, and then he tried to get on the ramp, it looked like, and then his car just stopped right before the ramp," one man said near the scene of the crashes.

Wood was taken into police custody a few blocks away.

He faces multiple charges, including five counts of leaving the scene of an accident, marijuana possession, and driving without a license.
