BLADEN COUNTY, N.C. -- A shooting in Bladen County caused one man to be airlifted Saturday.

Officials say it happened in the Kelly area.

The shooting stems from an incident that happened in New Hanover County last week after a boat was reported stolen.

Authorities say the man, 57-year-old David Gore, is the owner of the shop where the boat was taken from. He attempted to find the boat andtraveled to Bladen County looking for leads.

Authorities say Gore found two men taking scrap metal from an abandoned lumber mill.

They say he then confronted the two men and shot one of them.

He was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

The victim, Allen Blanchard, is listed in critical condition while the other man involved, Ryan Thau, was not injured.

Thau faces a charge of felonious larceny.
