JACKSONVILLE, N.C. -- The USO North Carolina Jacksonville Center is getting ready to feed about 2,000 service members and their families on Christmas Day.

On Saturday, volunteers began setting up tables and preparing the holiday meal.

For more than 30 years, the USO in Jacksonville has been providing a warm Christmas meal for the service men and women, and families who are unable to head home for the holidays.

"It’s our way of saying thank you for what they do every single day and providing them a home away from home on the holidays," said Holly Coffer, Coastal Area Director for the USO of North Carolina Jacksonville Center.

Christmas dinner will be served on Monday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Volunteers will even deliver meals to on-duty Marines, Sailors, and Coast Guardsmen all along the coast, including at Camp Devil Dog.

For the first time this year, they will host Santa’s Cinema after dinner for service members to enjoy holiday movies.

The USO says they can still use the community’s help with dessert donations.

They are in need of pies, cakes, brownies, cookies or any holiday desserts.

Donations can be dropped off at the USO of North Carolina Jacksonville Center on Christmas Eve between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
