CHARLOTTE – Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a murder-suicide.

It happened at a home in the 10800 block of Dapple Grey Lane just before 3:45 a.m. Friday.

Police responded to a 911 caller who advised that an individual was shooting at other family members inside their home.

When they arrived, officers found 51-year-old Maurice Hunter and 50-year-old Suprena Hunter dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

Investigators said Mauarice Hunter killed his wife and also attempted to shoot her adult daughter before killing himself.

The daughter and her two children were unharmed, however.

The couple had been married since 2004.

Family members say, when she wasn't working, Suprena took care of Maurice, who fell ill a few years ago.

"They were always together,” said Tameka Oakley, Suprena Hunter's sister. “She was always taking care of him, by his side, at the hospital, through surgeries."

Police say they had never responded to the Hunter's home before for any sort of disturbances.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (704) 334-1600.
