WILMINGTON, N.C. -- New Hanover County officials are partnering with Trillium Health Resources to build a new 100 bed treatment center in Wilmington.

The $11.5 million facility will be built off of Physicians Dr. near New Hanover Regional Medical Center. It will be partially funded by New Hanover County and will help those dealing with various types of substance abuse addiction.

"We are not going to be able to arrest away the problem. If we can get someone help and get them treatment and that's a positive impact, then that helps out everyone,” said Lt. Jerry Brewer, NHC Sheriff’s Office.

Construction is expected to begin sometime in late 2018.
