LIVERPOOL, N.Y. -- Lights on the Lake is one of the most popular holiday attractions in Central New York.

While the light displays are beautiful to drive through, it's causing some major headaches for drivers in the Liverpool area.

Liverpool Deputy Mayor Christina Fadden Fitch says with all the congestion on Onondaga Lake Parkway, it may be time to change up the route. She says the mayor shared some ideas earlier this week, including switching the entrance and exit. That means cars would enter at Long Branch Road and exit at Onondaga Lake Parkway.

Although it's just conversations right now, village officials say the change would make things safer and could cut down on traffic. They say the change could also help out local business.

A representative for the county executive says traffic patterns and possible solutions will continue to be reviewed.

Lights on the Lake runs through January 7.
