CHARLOTTE – Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are trying to figure out who shot two children in their home at the Little Rock Apartments in the 5700 block of Leake Street in Charlotte.

It happened just before 2 a.m. Thursday.

CMPD Police Chief Kerr Putney calling on the suspect responsible for the shooting to turn himself in.

The bullets riddled a home, hitting two kids while they were sleeping.

Now, 9 year-old Jeremiah and 11 year-old Darryl are recovering at the hospital.

Putney says this kind of violence is unnecessary.

“We’ve been talking about how senseless and childish it is to pick up a gun during Christmas,” he said.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Police believe the apartment was intentionally shot into by one or more suspects.
