RALEIGH -- Bright lights are shining all around the state this holiday season.

Holiday light displays are a common sight around North Carolina, but some families take their displays to the next level.

In one North Raleigh neighborhood, the Heindel and Taunton families set up equally extravagant light displays just steps away from each other. However, there's no competition between the two; the Tauntons help out the Heindels with their display and the families say spreading the holiday spirit is the most important thing.

"The kids that they brought to see our lights...now the kids are married and have little kids and they're coming to see our lights because we've been here for 25 years," said Jerry Heindel. "It's a really wonderful feeling to see that."

Both displays also feature Christmas music that plays through a radio frequency in your car.

The displays are located near the intersection of Abbey Ln and Sleepy Creek Dr off of Creedmoor Rd in North Raleigh.
