SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio man is now in custody accused of killing his girlfriend on Monday.

Paulo Gonzalez Chavez, 40, was arrested on Thursday after Idalia Celedon-Becerra was found dead. Becerra was a mother of four.

Officials said Becerra was covered by a blanket and propped up against the bed. Investigators determined she was strangled to death by her boyfriend who she had lived with for several years.

A note was allegedly left next to the body, but police have not commented on what it said.

Chavez was found with a loaded handgun in south San Antonio. He was arrested without incident.
