NATIONWIDE – On Dec. 15 travelers wearing ugly Christmas sweaters will get priority boarding on Alaska Airlines flights.

The day is National Ugly Holiday Sweater Day and to celebrate Alaska Airlines will allow festive passengers early boarding.

The one-day promotion will be offered across the country for all Alaska Airlines, Virgin Airlines and Horizon Air flights.

Passengers can dance their way across the gates as holiday-themed music will be played for the entire month of December.

"Travel during the holidays can be stressful for guests, especially those who do not travel often. This fun promotion not only allows guests to board early on that day, but gives people another opportunity to dust off that ugly holiday sweater hanging in the back of their closet," said Natalie Bowman, managing director of marketing and advertising at Alaska Airlines.

Holiday enthusiasts are encouraged to share their photos of ugly Christmas sweaters with Alaska Airlines using the hashtag #UglySweaterDay.
