DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. -- Recent cases of animal abuse and neglect in Davidson County are fueling one woman's mission to bring the suspects to justice.

Angie Allred started a petition days after three dogs were found extremely emaciated at a home on Hargrave Street in Lexington.

Two of the dogs were able to be saved, but the third, named Tank, had to be put down.

Allred chose to start a petition in his honor, calling it "justice for Tank."

Her original goal was 500 signatures and, as of now, there are nearly 10,000.

Allred said, "We just hope that it shows the judge that there are people that actually care, and we're tired of it, and we're just not gonna tolerate it. Human kindness should extend for more than, you know, just the other humans around you, it should be for all living things."

Wesley and Rayne Stevenson, charged with felony animal abuse in this case, will be in Davidson County court on January 8th.
