The first winter storm of the season and come and gone, leaving parts of North Carolina with a blanket of snow and with other parts of the state just seeing wet conditions.

With that lingering moisture across the region, some areas will see the chance of refreeze during the night.  A Winter Weather Advisory is posted for parts of our viewing area into early Sunday morning.  Moisture remaining on local roads could freeze up during the night causing slick spots.  Bridges, overpasses and shaded secondary roads would be the most likely areas to see these icy patches.

Skies will clear through the night as temperatures fall below freezing into Sunday morning.

Sunshine returns to the forecast on Sunday but it returns with chilly temperatures.  Even with full sunshine, daytime highs will be well below average for early December.  After a cold start to Monday, we should see slightly milder highs for Monday and Tuesday before another surge of cold air drops temperatures by mid-week.
