SAN ANTONIO — An attempted home invasion on the Northeast Side was thwarted and ended with one suspect under arrest, but three others at large.

According to San Antonio police, four suspects tried to break into a home in the 4300 block of Moana Drive around 12:20 a.m. Wednesday.

The homeowner heard them and shouted at them from inside his home, telling them to leave.

When they didn’t, the homeowner went outside to find three of the suspects, masked, outside of his home.

The fourth was in his garage. The homeowner went to investigate and upon doing so, the man pulled out a gun and attempted to rob him, and a fight broke out.

A 19-year-old woman that lives at the home heard the disturbance, and after going out to investigate, found the homeowner wrestling the suspect. The woman then tried shutting the garage door to call the police.

According to the police report, the other suspects then joined the scuffle in the garage, forcing the door open, knocking the 19-year-old to the ground. The suspect with the gun pointed the weapon in her direction, demanding that she hang up the phone. When the woman refused, the two other suspects took off running.

The homeowner, still scuffling with the suspect with the gun, then told the 19-year-old woman to go and get a third housemate while he pursued the suspects. The woman and the third roommate came back outside to find the man fighting with the now-detained suspect and the man with the gun.

The third housemate assisted the homeowner by holding down the now-detained suspect. Meanwhile, the suspect with the gun managed to flee.

Police are still working to identify the other suspects. Spectrum News will update as more information becomes available.
