UTICA, N.Y. -- A man accused of killing a 25-year old in Rome this summer appeared in court for answer and argument on Tuesday.

Robert Coffin is charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon for the shooting death of Thomas Shepherd Jr. After days of searching, Coffin was found in Las Vegas.

Tuesday, the judge denied the defense's motions to suppress statements and physical evidence. However, hearings will be held to determine how statements and physical evidence were gathered.

Coffin is scheduled to be back in court on January 24.
