Elected officials are calling on the Governor to approve a plan for a new pre-k location in Corona.

State Senator Jose Peralta and Assemblyman Jeffrion Aubry introduced legislation to allow one acre of park land in front of the New York Hall of Science to become a three hundred seat pre-K.

The bill already passed by the Assembly and Senate.  Governor Cuomo has until the end of next week to sign it.

Officials came up with the idea after proposals for a mega mall in the area were shot down.

"When you talk about taking park land to convert it into a mall, that is apples and oranges. We don't need another mall. [[BUTT]] But we do need more space for our children to learn," said Peralta.

The area is already notorious for overcrowded schools, with some classes run out of trailers.
