Con Edison crews are hard at work trying to restore power in Puerto Rico.

It's been nearly two months since Hurricane Maria destroyed the island's power grid.

Two hundred New York State utility workers are helping the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority get the lights back on.

"The devastation is real and the suffering is real, and we've seen it firsthand," said Con Edison spokesperson Alfonso Quiroz. "But the people here in Puerto Rico couldn't be more welcoming or appreciative. As you know and everyone else knows, there's really a strong connection between New York and Puerto Rico, and we're certainly feeling the love."

Quiroz says crews plan to stay until power is fully restored.

Forty more utility workers are heading to the island next week.
