FDNY crews are currently battling a five-alarm fire in Hamilton Heights.

Fire officials say the blaze broke out around 3:15 p.m. at a residential building at 565 West 144th Street.

FDNY Chief of Department James Leonard says wind pushed the fire into the top floor and the cockloft of the building.

The department needed to evacuate its members because of a possibility of collapse at the building, according to Leonard.

Leonard says a lot of the roof has been burned away.

The FDNY says at least one civilian and three firefighters suffered minor injuries.

The MTA says 1 trains briefly bypassed the 145th street stop in both directions, but they say service has since resumed. They say M4, M5 and Bx19 buses are being detoured in both directions because of the fire.
