A Bay Ridge park is proving to be a gift to some Brooklyn residents just in time for the holidays.

A ribbon cutting ceremony marked the opening of a new ballfield at McKinley Park. A band was also on hand to celebrate the 2.5 million dollar upgrade that replaces an old, cracked and underused field with a new synthetic turf that will be used for little league softball and mulitpurpose play.

Many children are thrilled with the new facility, with one mom saying, "oh, they're so excited, so excited! Hopefully they get a lot of years of fun play here and I know everyone is super excited."

The project was funded by Council Member Gentile and Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams.
