AUSTIN, Texas -- A group of military heroes departed from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Friday for a special flight to Washington.

Fifteen Austin area-veterans who served in World War II, Vietnam, and Korea were on the Honor Flight.

During their trip, they will visit the White House and attend a special Veterans Day ceremony at the World War II memorial. Flight organizers say we should not only celebrate our war heroes on Veterans Day, but every day.

"They've given so much.  Personally I served 20 years in the Marine Corps. I think it’s embedded in me now to be of service to our veterans and the community.  And I think it's vitally important that we do not forget these heroes,” said Allen Bergeron, with Honor Flight Austin.

This is the 49th trip Honor Flight Austin has made to Washington.
