If you're the kind of employee that picks up the slack last minute at work, this might be good news for you.

Governor Andrew Cuomo is enforcing new regulations requiring hourly workers to get extra money when they're called in at the last minute.

Under new rules, employers have to give their workers a 14-day advanced notice for scheduling, and hand over two hours' extra pay for short notice call-ins.

Workers put on stand-by for last-minute cancellations also will get extra compensation.

The new regulations go into effect in early January.
