FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Each year Fayetteville and Cumberland County hold the Heroes Homecoming celebration in November right around Veterans Day.

On Saturday, a new feature of the event happened with the first Heroes Homecoming Motorcycle Rally.

About 100 bikers turned out for that rally.

Organizers say they all wanted to thank vets for the freedoms they enjoy.

"I've got a lot of respect for the veterans and what they do for my freedom and for everybody else's freedom," said motorcyclist David Schroeder. "We're free because of them."

Along with some special music, riders also visited the display at the Airborne and Special Operations Museum of the replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

Organizers say they are already planning for next year's motorcycle rally for Heroes Homecoming.
