FAYETTEVILLE -- Mitch Colvin (D) was elected mayor of Fayetteville on Tuesday night, winning 59 percent of the vote against incumbent Mayor Nat Robertson (R). 

Robertson lost the primary race to Colvin in October by more than 13 points. 

The four-year city councilman and mayor pro tem was born and raised in Fayetteville.

During his campaign, Colvin focused on job creation and collaboration.

He says his first priority as mayor is improving relations with other local governing bodies.

Mitch Colvin —- 45.07 percent, 5,821 votes

Nat Robertson (incumbent) —- 31.58 percent, 4,078 votes

Kirk Deiere —- 21.49 percent, 2,775 votes

Quncidine Gribble —- 1.87 percent, 241 votes

Political views: Liberal

Economic growth: Colvin promises to be an “ambassador” for Fayetteville, \nationally and internationally, in order to build improve business opportunities. 

Police relations: Colvin seems to support collaboration in the community between all city officials and stakeholders.
