City libraries are giving young readers a chance to start a new chapter.

They're offering a onetime amnesty deal on any outstanding late fees for anyone age 17 and younger.

High school students who are either 18-year-old or over can also have their fines cleared in person through November 2.

Typically, people who owe $15 can't take out more books until they pay the fines.

But the onetime exception will unblock library cards for eligible kids.

The amnesty period is brief as fines will start to add up on any items still due after today.
