An Onondaga County jail deputy is expected to be OK after accidentally shooting himself at the correctional facility Monday night.

The sheriff's office says custody deputy Justin Brannock was inside the employee locker room located in an unsecured portion of the Justice Center around 10:30 p.m., when his personal firearm went off.

They say he was unholstering it at the time. The 28-year old was hospitalized, but is expected to be OK.

No one else was hurt.

The sheriff's office says he has been a member of the Custody Department for nearly five years and is currently assigned to the booking section.
