A man who was charged in a fatal gas explosion in 2015 in the East Village has died.

An obituary by the Pizzi Funeral Home in New Jersey says Michael Hrynenko Jr. died August 25.

The 31-year old was the manager of the building where the blast happened on March 26, 2015.

It is unclear what lead to his death.

Hrynenko was facing charges of manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide for allegedly conspiring with contractors to tamper with gas lines as a way to keep tenants living inside newly-renovated apartments.

The explosion killed two people, injured nearly two dozen others, and leveled three buildings near the blast site. Four other people are facing charges in connection with the incident.
