A major development project has been announced in the Concourse section of the Bronx.

The city's Economic Development Corporation says it will turn a vacant site near the Harlem River into a waterfront hotspot dubbed "Bronx Point."

More than 1,000 units of affordable housing are eventually expected to line the development, with 600 of those becoming available in 2022.

There will also be room for an esplanade which will expand Mill Pond Park, an outdoor performance area, a food and beverage hall, and even a museum dedicated to the history of hip-hop.

The project is expected to create more than 100 permanent jobs.
