NEW YORK - A construction worker fell 27 stories to his death Thursday morning while on the job in Lower Manhattan.

It happened around 9 a.m. at the site located at 161 Maiden Lane.

Police say 43-year-old Juan Chonillo was laying concrete on the 29th floor of the site when he fell through an open hole, landing on the second floor.

He was declared dead at the scene.

The Department of Buildings is investigating the site.
