Cornell University's president is condemning the actions of the students involved in last week's off-campus fight.

A student has been arrested and is accused of using racial slurs during Friday's incident in the Collegetown neighborhood.

Officials say others from the unaffiliated fraternity, Psi Upsilon, may have also been involved.

Cornell has launched an investigation into the incident, and says appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against those responsible.

The university says it will not consider Psi Upsilon’s reinstatement to become an affiliated fraternity.

It was suspended last year due to a sexual assault investigation.

Officials are providing support to the victim, and taking steps to address hate on campus.

The school's president released a statement, which reads:

"I will not tell you ‘this is not who we are,’ as the events of the past few weeks belie that. But it is absolutely not who we want to be. Please speak out against injustice, racism and bigotry, and reach out to support one another. Ours must be a community grounded in mutual respect and kindness."
